Collagraph

In my art I am exploring a connection with place and the environment. This series of collographs are with mixed media reflecting the colours and atmosphere of the landscape. The starting point of the work is derived from my relocation from ‘the bush’ to the sea and each piece echoes the influence of these environments.

A collagraph print is created by printing a plate created by a mixture of collaged, relatively flat materials, which allow the replication of a variety of lines, textures and images. Once sealed the plate is then printed with water-based inks and the image transferred to damp paper by printing under pressure with an etching press.

My prints are then combined with mixed media such as drawing or stitch. These prints also bear a distinct link to the land we walk upon.
