Artists’ Books
My artists book are a three dimensional story of my connection with place. These are almost like small sculptures within a concertina format. In my practice I use a variety of techniques and materials. They may not even be made solely of paper and can be fabric or even wood. My artists’ books can even be recycled artworks. I enjoy using a technique that I call boiled books where the paper is pressed tightly with native leaf litter and boiled in Eucalyptus leaves. I often draw back into my books and recently have been adding stitch or even copper wire. The tiny ‘wood cover’ series began life as an old paling fence.
Artists' books are not books about art or artists. I see it as a form of artistic expression in the form of ‘book’. Each one is unique and tells a different story. They may or may not look like a book but are a sculptural object that can be picked up and explored. It is an artwork that does not necessarily hang on the wall but is a decorative object like a clay vase or figurine.
Artists’ Journals
I also produce a range of Journals in various formats and sizes. These are covered with hand printed or painted papers or recycled art work and are hand stitched. These will be available in the shop in due course. The journals range from a few pages that can a greeting card for a long message or a journal that can be used for drawing or thoughts.
