In this series of works I am using prints of plants or weeds that have escaped from the garden into the bush. The contact plant prints use water and a mordant and the image of the plants develop unusual shapes and colourings and imprint like magic onto the paper.
The mono prints are printed with acrylic paint in multiple coatings creating an interesting layered image. The colourful prints are also printed from escapee plants. These exotic aliens can result in a fragmentation of habitat and a subsequent impact on biodiversity. And there lies the dichotomy: beauty or fragmentation of the environment.
In these art works I have used the natural plant dye Indigo tinctoria creating images that are reminiscent of sea landscapes and the constantly reshaping pathways.
