My book forms echo the Australian ecosystem. The solid shapes of the plant prints with the natural eco plant prints become mediums of shadowy promise; with a hint of mystery and alchemy. Each print is different, like nature itself. The pages are then formed into standing book forms like sentinels of the environment.
Stitching appears throughout, adding texture and unifying passages. The act of sewing, piercing the fibres, allows me to create both a physical and an emotional bond with the material. Stitch has become a tool for exploring our relationship with the world and our place in it.
My work brings attention to the everyday wonders in our immediate surrounds. It captures the feel of wonderment when we take the time to observe the insignificant features in our journey.
